FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Our lives are often spent in some great quest to ensure our health and prolong our existence on this earth. Especially in America it seems that some have a zealous affection for eating healthful food in order to lower their cholesterol or increase their muscle mass. While it should be argued that a proper diet is a part of good stewardship, we must not overlook the fact that our bodies are mortal and moving toward a state of decay. Indeed our “outer man is decaying…day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16) and all attempts to continue living will ultimately fail. The soul of a man, however, is an entirely different story.

If our quest is to live forever, then we need to look no further than the man called Jesus. He is in fact the bread of life (John 6:48) and the manna from heaven above. He is food for the soul. His meat and drink will put life in us. His food will satisfy. His drink will refresh. And, if we feast upon His sustenance, we will live forever (John 6:58).
