BAPTISM

1. Yes No Did Christ teach that his followers should be baptized? Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Yes No Did Christ connect baptism with salvation? Mark 16:15-16 (NKJV) And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned."

2. Yes No Did Peter command baptism? Acts 2:38, 10:48 (NKJV) Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days. What did Peter teach was the purpose of baptism? Acts 2:38 (NKJV) Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." I Peter 3:21 (KJV) The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

3. Yes No Was Saul commanded to be baptized? Acts 22:16 (NKJV) 'And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.' For what purpose was he told to be baptized?

WHAT IS NEW TESTAMENT BAPTISM?

5. How many baptisms are there?   Ephesians 4:4-6 (NKJV) There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

6. Yes No Does it require water? Acts 8:36-38 (NKJV) Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?" Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. Yes No Did the eunuch and Philip go down into the water for the baptism?

7. Yes No Is baptism described as a burial? Romans 6:3-5 (KJV) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Yes No Is sprinkling or pouring a burial? Colossians 2:12 (NKJV) buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

8. Yes No Is baptism a burial (an immersion) in water?

9. Yes No Was it the believers in these passages who were baptized? Acts 18:8 (NKJV) Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized. Acts 8:12-13 (NKJV) But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 2:41 (NKJV) Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. Mark 16:15-16 (NKJV) And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

THE BODY OF CHRIST: HIS CHURCH

13. Yes No Is the church the body (spiritual body) of Christ? Ephesians 1:22-23 (NKJV) And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Colossians 1:18 (NKJV) And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

14. How many bodies (churches) does Christ have?   Ephesians 4:4 (NKJV) There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; I Corinthians 12:20 (NKJV) But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.

15. Yes No Are all Christ's followers members of that one body? Romans 12:4-5 (NKJV) For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. I Corinthians 12:12, 27 (NKJV) For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

16. Yes No Is it that body (the church) that Christ saves? Ephesians 5:23 (NKJV) For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Yes No Does Christ's church have one and only one head?

17. Yes No Was it Christ's desire that there be unity among his followers? John 17:20-21 (NKJV) I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

18. Yes No Should all members of his body be united? I Corinthians 1:10 (NKJV) Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Yes No Did this desire for unity extend even to the name to be worn? I Corinthians 1:11-12 (NKJV) For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Christ." What two factors did Paul indicate were important in choosing a name to wear? 1)     2)     I Corinthians 1:13 (NKJV) Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

19. How are the followers of Christ referred to in the New Testament? Acts 11:26 (NKJV) And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.   Acts 26:28 (NKJV) Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You almost persuade me to become a Christian." Yes No Do we read of the church of Christ in the Bible? Romans 16:16 (NKJV) Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you.
