THE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

1. Yes No Are those who have been baptized into Christ described as starting a new life? Romans 6:3-4 (NKJV) Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Yes No Should those in that new life seek heavenly goals, not earthly goals? Colossians 3:1-2 (NKJV) If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

2. Yes No Should they put off all old sinful practices? Colossians 3:8-9 (NKJV) But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,

3. Yes No Should their new life be based on a new model and new standards? Colossians 3:10-17 (NKJV) and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

4. Yes No Does a Christian have a responsibility to his fellow man -- especially to another Christian? Galatians 6:10 (NKJV) Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

5. When Christians sin, how do they obtain forgiveness?   Acts 8:12-13 (NKJV) But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 8:18-22 (NKJV) And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, "Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit." But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you."     I John 1:9 (NKJV) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

WORSHIP

6. Who is the only one to be worshipped?   Luke 4:8 (NKJV) And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' " Acts 10:25-26 (NKJV) As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter lifted him up, saying, "Stand up; I myself am also a man."

7. Proper worship must be in and in ?   John 4:24 (NKJV) "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

8. What is the reliable source of truth?   John 17:17 (NKJV) Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

9. Yes No Does using men's ideas result in acceptable worship? Matthew 15:9 (NKJV) And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

WORSHIP: PRAISE / SINGING

10. How do we offer praise to God?   Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV) Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

11. What is one way to offer praise with our lips?   Hebrews 2:12 (NKJV) saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You." Acts 16:25 (NKJV) But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

12. Yes No Are Christians told to teach and admonish one another with singing? Colossians 3:16 (NKJV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Yes No Can a mechanical instrument of music teach?

13. Where is the only melody that accompanies the singing?   Ephesians 5:19 (NKJV) speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, NOTE: Mechanical instruments were first used in church services after 600 A.D.

WORSHIP: LORD'S SUPPER

14. When did Christ establish the Lord's Supper? What two elements are used in keeping the Lord's Supper?   I Corinthians 11:23-29 (NKJV) For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. Yes No Is the Lord's Supper a remembrance of Christ's death and a looking forward to his return?

15. How is the Lord's Supper frequently referred to in the New Testament? When did New Testament Christians observe the Lord's Supper?   Acts 2:42 (NKJV) And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 20:7 (NKJV) Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.

WORSHIP: PRAYER

16. To whom should Christians pray?   Phillipians 4:6 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

17. Through whom should prayers be offered?   Colossians 3:17 (NKJV) And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

18. Yes No Does a person's attitude affect his prayers? I Peter 3:12 (NKJV) For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil." James 4:3 (NKJV) You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

WORSHIP: GIVING

19. Yes No Should Christians give cheerfully and liberally? II Corinthians 9:6-8 (NKJV) But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. Yes No Will Christians have all they need to serve God?

20. Yes No Were collections taken on the first day of the week? I Corinthians 16:1-2 (NKJV) Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

WORSHIP: PREACHING

21. Yes No When Christians met, was there preaching? Acts 20:7 (NKJV) Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. Yes No Is it important to preach only sound doctrine? II Timothy 4:2-3 (NKJV) Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

WORSHIP: ASSEMBLY

22. Yes No Were the early Christians encouraged not to forsake the assembly? Hebrews 10:23-25 (NKJV) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

23. How many of the acts of worship discussed above (singing, Lord's Supper, praying, giving, and preaching) require Christians to meet together?

24. Yes No Should Christians have fellowship with those who teach error? II John 1:9 (NKJV) Whoever transgresses {goeth onward, ASV; goes too far, NASB} and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
